Summary
Chatham Sun Pier, a river landing stage for merchant vessels
A pier first existed here in 1765, it was improved in 1864 but subsequently was destroyed by gales in 1885. The present pier was constructed in 1886 and an extension was added in 1902-4. Major refurbishment was carried out in 1982 and a new landing stage added in 1987.
