TQ 7637 5629. Site of lime kiln and associated buildings on N side of Holland Rd, Maidstone, behind houses at NE corner of Holland Rd/Wheeler St junction. The kiln was probably constructed in the 1830s or 40s (not being shown on Brown's map of 1821 but present, though not named on Tootell's map of 1848). The kiln stood close to the road with building at its N side and a larger building a little furthur N. On the 1868 OS 1st ed two structures adjacent to the kiln are clearly shown . The kiln is not marked on the OS 2nd ed and was probably destroyed by the construction of houses along Holland Rd in c1880s.
