Summary

A Concrete World War II anti-tank pillbox, located at the side of the road to the north of Lodge Hill Camp, Hoo St. Werburgh. The type 28 pillbox faces west and formed part of the defence for the Lodge Hill ammunition depot. It was visited during 1995 as part of a defensive survey.

Full Description

Concrete and brick anti-tank pillbox type 28 facing W/ part of the defence for Lodge Hill ammunition depot.

Pillbox concrete base only. On the W side of Lodge Hill Lane at a point where the lane turns sharp East. (1)

This featrue falls within the area mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. Examination of aerial photographs for that project indicates that the pillbox described in authority 1 is the same structure as that recorded as Monument 1418704. (2)
