Full Description
The Malthouse, nr East Farleigh Bridge TQ 7342 5355. Half timbered building on N bank of River Medway latterly used for a variety of workshop uses but probably built between the tithe map and OS 1st Ed 1840-65 as a maltings. Brick ground floor with many internal alterations and series of loading doors at the raised road level behind. First floor, supported on massive timbers, has louvered weatherboarding on the N side and a double roof with possible integral kilns having been incorporated into either end in the original construction. Demolished to make way for housing in December 1996. (1)
