Summary

number of 2nd century Roman cremation burials consisting of four urns with bones, a cup, two paterae, three beakers, two flagons and a vase were found in the garden of 27 Kings Drive in 1930. The finds are in Gravesend Museum.

Full Description

In October 1930, Mr. H Hughes of 27 Kings Drive, Gravesend, when digging in his back garden, discovered a number of 2nd c. Roman cremation burials. They comprised 4 urns, each containing bones, arranged in a semi-circle 6' in diameter; accompanying vessels included a Samian cup form 33, two paterae forms 18 and 31, three poppy-head beakers, two flagons and a vase; all now in Gravesend Museum. Hughes no longer lives at the address given, and his present whereabouts is unknown. The garden is centred at TQ 65107218.(a-c) (1)
