Monument record TQ 74 SE 17 - Lovehurst Manor Mill, Staplehurst
Summary
Lovehurst Manor Mill is a post-medieval, water-powered cornmill. It consists of a 3 storey L-plan brick and weather board water powered cornmill, converted to a dwelling circa 1972. There is a mill pond to the east with a mill race to the south.
The undershot wheel has been removed but the wheel pit is still exposed with a blocked axle hole in the south wall of the mill buildings.
In 1995 excavations for an extension revealed part of the pit wall and bearing but no other buildings. The wheel was originally covered by a cat-slide roof.
