Summary

An early Romano British cremation burial with one large urn containing bones, several small urns and paterae were found in 1935 during the contruction of a rockery at High Ridge, Peartree Lane. The finds are in the possession of a Mr A F Allen.

Full Description

Early Roman cremation burial. One large urn with several small urns and paterae. (a) (1)

[TQ 69877051 site pointed out on ground.] In 1935 during the construction of a rockery at High Ridge, Peartree Lane, Shorne, a large urn, containing calcined bones, together with a number of small urns and paterae, was found at a depth of c.6'. The find was not reported at the time and it was not until early in 1951 that the pottery came into my possession and was classified at Maidstone Museum. (2)
