Summary
The remains of suspension bridge are located close to a ford crossing of the River Stour to the north of Godmersham. This foot bridge was part of a route from Chilham through the woods but it is not certain how much of this monument now exists. It is clearly marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st and 2nd edition maps of c.1861-1895 and still visible on the 3rd edition of c.1905-1922.
