Monument record TR 36 NW 254 - Medieval farmstead enclosure, Kent International Business Park, Acol

Summary

A medieval farmstead enclosure was found near Manston during archaeological investigations in advance of development at Kent International Business Park. The site comprised a sub-rectangular ditched enclosure about 25m wide by 55m in length with internal features. Among these features were a stone build edifice and at least one outbuilding: this was segregated from the stone building by a ditch. Ceramic evidence suggests that the period of occupation was from the late 12th to mid 13th century.
