Monument record TQ 63 NE 17 - Poss site of brickworks, near Grantham Hall Farm, Hastings Road, Lamberhurst
Summary
Placename and documentary evidence suggests the existence of a Brick works near Grantham Hall Farm. The area was known as Brick Kiln Field in 1841-3 and a series of kilns and yards are recorded at this time. The brickworks had ceased production by 1897 and the kilns had been demolished. Clay pits may be still indicated at the site by a number of large ponds still visible.
