Monument record TQ 76 NW 91 - Paved road of uncertain date, Commerial Road, Rochester
Summary
Part of a paved road was found in the 19th century by a George Payne. It was interpreted at the time as part of Watling Street, although this identification is now uncertain. A layer of smooth flagstones and a number of timber piles were subsequently found on the approach to Rochester Bridge.
