Monument record TQ 93 NW 7 - Post medieval pottery kilns
Summary
A pottery industry was established in this area in the late 18th century, and is described on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of c.1861 as a brick and tileworks. Production apparently ceased in 1904-5 owing to the exhaustion of the clay. The site is noted as a pottery on the 3rd edition Ordnance Survey map of c.1922 and today the area is known as Potteries Farm.
