Full Description
Whilst digging foundations for a patio, a resident of Salisbury Road discovered a human skull. Excavation revealed that it was an articulated body rather than an isolated skull. The only clue to the date of the burial is the position of the skeleton- on its side with the legs flexed. Such a disposition suggests a Pre-Roman date, possibly Bronze Age. C14 dating confirmed that the burial is Early Bronze Age. The skeleton is practically complete, morphology suggests that remains are of a female aged 20-25. The skeleton is on permanenet display at the Bay Museum, St. Margaret's Bay. (1)
