Full Description
Site of Court Lodge, also known as Veles House, prob the former site of the Snodland Manor House. Occupied by the Veel family from 1242-1346. 1st documentary ref to the house in C16. Drawings of substantial timber framed house still standing in 1820s and illustrated (source 1 plate 4). Dmaged in paper mill fire of 1881 and demolished soon after (1-2)
