Full Description

Examination of the weathered upcast from the dredging of the River Stour revealed a relatively dense multi-period scatter of finds, mostly pottery and some flint tools. The chronological range of finds suggests local importance as a fording point across the Stour. Preliminary assessment indicates that during the LNEO-EBA and LBA/EIA transitions and from AD 1175-1225, actual occupation at or close to this crossing was continuous/semi continuous. (1)
