Monument record TQ 83 SE 61 - Brick and tileworks near Tenterden

Summary

This nineteenth century brick and tilemaking site is marked on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey Map of c.1862 as a cluster of buildings with an access road to the North. The Brickfield area had greatly expanded by the 1930s Ordnance Survey map but the buildings had been removed, probably indicating closure. In the intervening period a single kiln is marked to the south of the tileworks with a probable drying shed to its north side. This latter building can be noted as surviving on the 1964 OS map.
