Full Description

Sharps Freemans Works at Tovil Green. Formerly the location of 'The Dormy House' an egg packing station (marked on OS 3rd ed 1909 25" and prob built on gardens marked on OS 1st ed 1868). The site is a rectangular one with offices fronting onto Tovil Green. The 2 storey offices have brick lower storey and rendered upper with false timber framing are prob late C19 and poss part of the Dormy House, though much changed. Behind is a c1950s workshop for Sharps Freeman, a manufacturer of ties presently engaged in fabric printing though a preserved Smith Dobby Loom of 1920s date for weaving tie fabric situated outside the offices suggests the works was once also engaged in waeving.
