Full Description
RCHME AP shows large, rectilinear enclosure with S small, single-ditched, ring ditches just outside. Possibly the same site as TR 26 NE 168 (medieval farmstead) (1-3).
Geophysical survey undertaken in 1992(4).
From the National Heritage List of England:
Crop marks visible on aerial photographs indicate three circular, ditched graves and an associated irregular enclosure near the northern edge of the monument.
Fragmented cropmarks of a possible settlement enclosure of Medieval date mapped from CUCAP CW65 19-JUL-1949 as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The enclosure complex is trapezoidal and sub-divided. It measures c.95m W-E and 70m N-S at the western end, tapering to around 35m at the eastern end. The site now partially lies beneath the A299. Traces of a possible building are visible as cropmarks in the SE quadrant at TR 2912 6562. The cropmark ofa small penannular ring ditch appears to overlap the NW corner of the enclosure. The cropmark remains of a number of small ring ditches thought to be either Bronze Age or perhaps early medieval round barrows have also been noted in this record. These have been recorded separately.(5)
