Full Description
'Old chalk pit' located on Ordnance Survey 1st edition map and 2nd edition 1898 map sheet 24. The pit boundary is still visible on the 3rd and 4th edition maps of c.1906-1940. The site also is marked on the present day Ordnance Survey map as 'disused pit'. (1)
A chalk pit of post-Medieval date was visible as an earthwork in RAF/106G/UK/1724 RP 3044 10-SEP-1946. Although landscaped, the pit is later visible as an earthwork on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. It was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (2-3)
