Summary

An Icehouse was fomerly located at Ramsgate Harbour and used to serve the harbour fleet. It was constructed in 1893 in a dry dock area. The building is not marked on any of the Ordnance Survey Historic maps.

Full Description

Stands adjacent to the public house 'Jacobs Ladder,' and once property of an ice company for commercial purposes and to serve the harbour fleet. Constructed in 1893 in the dry dock area by building a wall across the dock to keep water out of the basin, and by forming three compartments of concrete and rolled steel beams. Single storey building constructed over it and exact original dimensions difficult as later structural charges occurred. (1)
