Monument record TR 36 SW 111 - Site of Cliffsend Crossing chalk pit

Summary

A chalk pit was formerly located at the Cliffsend railway crossing. It is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st and 2nd edition maps (c.1858-1898) as 'Old Chalk Pit'. The outline is still visible on the 3rd and 4th edition maps (c.1905-1940).
