Summary
A Sand pit was formerly located near the Elms at Abbey Green in the north of Minster. The site is marked on the 1st and 2nd edition Ordnance Survey maps (c.1861 - 1898) as "Old Sand Pit". The boundary is still visible on the 3rd and 4th edition maps (c. 1906 - 1940). The feature is visible as an earthwork and was mapped from LIDAR Environment Agency DTM 07-DEC-2017.

Full Description
Boundary marked on 1st ed 1872 OS 6" map. Named as 'Old Sand Pit' on 2nd ed 1898, sheet 36 SW. Boundary also marked on 3rd ed 1908. (1)
A post medieval extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on LIDAR Environment Agency DTM 07-DEC-2017. This feature was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (2)
