Monument record TR 36 SW 289 - Thorne Farm chalk pit, near Cliffs End, Minster parish

Summary

A chalk pit was formerly located in fields near Cliffs End. The site is marked as "Old Chalk Pit" on the 1st and 2nd editions of the Ordnance Survey historic maps (c.1861 - 1898). The boundary of the pit is marked on the 3rd and 4th editions (c.1906 - 1940). The outline of the pit is still visible today as a small reservoir.
