Summary
A Chalk pit was formerly located near Thorne Farm. The site is marked as "Old Chalk Pit" on the 1st and 2nd editions of the Ordnance Survey historic maps (c.1861 - 1898). The boundary of the pit is marked on the 3rd and 4th editions (c.1906 - 1940). The outline of the pit is still visible today.

Chalk pit located on 1st and 2nd ed OS 6" maps, sheet 37. Boundary marked on 3rd ed 1908 map. Disused by 1930s revised ed. (1)
A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on LIDAR Environment Agency DTM 07-DEC-2017. The feature was mapped as part of the Thanet Landscape Mapping Project. (2)
