Summary

Second World War concrete Type 22 pillbox. Built of reinforced concrete and in fair condition. On the East side of the A260 road (Crete Road East), set on a bank now hidden by trees.

Full Description

Type 22 (?) pillbox. C. 1940. Built of reinforced concrete and in fair condition. Located at the East side of A260, on a bank hidden by trees. (1,2)

Type 22 pillbox. Pillbox has only 2 x embrasures with internal bolted metal frame but no other Turnbull fittings. The pillbox was thickened, the extra layer of concrete blocking the rear embrasure. L-shaped entrance wall. Slit trenches can still be seen to right and left of the pillbox. Type 22 pillbox of variant form. One small embrasure visible from road [no access]. Heavily overgrown. Field of fire S. Tip lines show poor standard of concrete casting. Concrete exterior facing. with PLAN drawn on form. Type 22 pillbox. Built of reinforced concrete and in fair condition. On the E side of the A260 road (Crete Road East), set on a bank now hidden by trees. (3)
