Monument record TR 05 SW 24 - Dene hole (probable), Howletts Farm, Shottenden
Summary
A deep shaft thought to be the remains of a dene hole is located at Howletts Farm. The feature was identified when part of the ground in the area collapsed in 1994. Whilst no chambers could be seen at the bottom, a number of well used foot holes were seen spiralling up the chalk. Another dene hole structure is know at Howletts farm some 120m to the north (see TR 05 SW 23)
