Monument record TR 35 NW 197 - Sandwich gas works

Sandwich gas works, built to supply gas for town street light installed in October 1839 on a site formerly occupied by a Ship builders' yard and blacksmith's forge. (1)

A brick and concrete structure with iron pipes probably associated with the gas works was identified during a watching brief carried out in 2009. (7)
