Full Description

Three IA sites were located through field in 1996. Some 35 flint tempered body sherds collected, reperesenting a multi-period occupation, from the LBA to the early Roman period. Over 50 sherds of RO date were discovered on a very small area, from the C1 through C3. Also collected at this site were over 150 sherds of MD pottery, taken from the apple orchards around Teynham Court Farm. The earliest dates from 1150-1225AD, but the bulk is Tyler Hill ware of 1250-1350AD. Of interest was a sherd of 1525-75AD date, showing a moulded classical bust in profile. (1)
