Full Description
Second World War pillbox at junction of minor roads near Eastry. Type 24 with additonal low embrasures in some walls, in brick shuttered concrete in good condition. (1)
Type 24 pillbox, brick-shuttered; additional low embrasures 18ins from the ground in some walls. Type 24 pillbox with additional low embrasures in some walls, in brick shuttered concrete in good condition. Pillbox [Sector 3]. Cassini ref 752737. Letter from Mrs. S.J. Smith states that her father, Alfred Martin, a member of the Home Guard, manned this pillbox. He was equipped with a shotgun while other Home Guard members had staves. At night they patrolled the marshes between Eastry and Ham where German parachutists were expected. At junction of two minor roads, nr. Eastry. (1,2)
