Only the S-W quadrant of a poss. ring ditch was excavated. This area of the ditch was 16m long and varried between 0.64m to 1m in width. The finds suggest a pre-historic date date. Early flints were found at the bottom of the fill and two poss. waste flakes were also found, but also in the fill was a shoulder-neck pottery sherd, from a courseware vessel. This may date to the early Saxon period, but even with this evidence the ring ditch is still believed to be of pre-historic date.(1 & 2)
