Monument record TQ 66 SW 44 - WW2 Army water tower, Trottiscliffe
Summary
There are the remains of a water tower, formerly supplying the WW2 Officers Training Camp, in Trottiscliffe Country Park. There is a platform for a water tank constructed of steel stanchions with angle iron cross bracing and sheet steel platform on girders. The stanchions are set in a brick base with 3x1 bays. The construction is approximately 12m x 6m in size and 10m high. The tank has been removed but the remains of the steel sheet remain. A brick lined pit for an intake pipe is visible in the ground below the tower plus the stump of a waste pipe.
It was built to supply water to the Officers Training Camp via a pumping station at the bottom of the hill. See also TQ 66 SW 45
