Full Description
The Brewery may have formerly been named the Brewhouse Quay in 1839 and changed name to Custom House quay Brewery by 1859. The Brewery was run by Jeken, Coleman and Rutley and was leased from the Hon. Warden and Assistants of Dover Harbour Board from the 6th April, 1834, although the brewery itself is listed in Pigot's directory as far back as 1823.(1-2) The brewery ceased brewing and the buildings were pulled down in 1864. (Malting and Malthouses in Kent)(3) the brewery is visible on historic OS maps dating to the end of the 19th and early 20th century. (4-6)
