Findspot record TR 05 SE 152 - Early medieval strap fitting and weight, Godmersham
Summary
An early medieval strapend and rectangular bronze block with iron strips were found by a metal detectorist near Godmersham in September 1994. The strapend, also possibly a pointer, was c.45mm long and in the shape of a snake head and body, with a design in bronze with silver rings. The bronze block was c.30mm long and has a cross hatched decoration and a loop at one end. This has been identified as a possible weight. Photographs of these artefacts are located in Maidstone Museum but the current location of the finds themselves is uncertain
