Monument record TR 37 SE 272 - Site of Cobb's Margate brewery, Fort Road, Margate

Summary

A brewery and malt kilns were formerly located at 38 Fort Road, Margate. The brewery was erected in 1760 and rebuilt in 1808. It was owned by Cobb & Co. from around 1899 and was acquired by Whitbread in 1968. The brewery closed shortly after this and was demolished in 1971. There is an approx 8m diameter, round resevoir in the yard to the north of the office. This is lost by the 4th (1929-1952) ed OS map.
