Full Description
Established prior to 1851 by G.Beer. In 1922 they took over Rigden & Co of Faversham and formed Beer & Ridgen Ltd.The Brewery, with any associated maltings, was demolished after being closed down soon after the merger. (1)
Features were excavated in 2003 associated with the Star Brewery, Canterbury, including a wall and floor surfaces. The floor surfaces comprised a 0.03-0.05m thick stone slab floor, this was overlain by a tile floor bonded with cement mortar. The wall was comprised of brick and plaster and stood to a height of 0.56m within the excavation trench. The wall is thought to be contemporary with the stone floor. These structures are thought to be associated with the 19th century Star Brewery. (2)
