Full Description

The Old Malt house, Malt house Rd, Stansted, are a possible group of Malt houses that were in use by 1870 and still in use in 1908. By 1936 it would seem that they were converted into a house.Marked on the OS 25" 3rd ed. they are marked as Malthouses that is a big retangular building that is sub divided into six sections.(1)

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ASH-CUM-RIDLEY MALTHOUSE ROAD 1. 5280 The Old Malt House TQ 66 SW 7/17 II
2. C17 or earlier restored timber-framed building with exposed diagonal braces and modern red brick and some plaster infilling. Red brick later extension to right hand side. Two storeys. Seven casement windows. C19 thatched gabled porch.
