Summary

An oil mill at Conyer quay was built in 1787-8. It was advertised for sale in 1796 and again in 1797. Five pairs of stones and presses were included in the sale. The mill was taken over by Richardsons cement works in the mid-nineteenth century , when it was used as a grinding mill. At this time it was fitted with a beam engine, but it is probable that it was originally powered by some other means. The ruined remains of the mill can be seen in the garden of a private house.
