Full Description
A mill at Conyer Quay( TQ 9627 6455), built in 1787-8 was advertised for sale in 1796 and again the following year. Five pairs of stones and presses (probably stamps) were included.(1) The mill was fitted with a beam engine when it was taken over by Richardson's cement works in the mid 19th century though it most likely was powered by some other means originally. It was used as a grinding mill. The cement works had a row of six kilns.(2) Ruined remains of the mill are now to be seen in the garden of a private house. No access to the works possible in 2005 (3)
