Summary
A steam powered Corn Mill and adjacent Wind mills, were once located at Mill Road, New Brompton, Gillingham. Part of the the Kent Cattle Food and Spice Company established by W.J.Mackay in the later 19th century before he founded his Maidstone works. The mills produced a range of compounded cattle cakes as well as cattle spice and fattening meals. A fire in October 1895 partly destroyed the mills and Mackey relocated to Maidstone shortly afterwards.
