Summary

A Cement works was established by Boorman, Wild & Co. in the 1850's. It was later operated by T & W Weekes which became Trechman, Weekes & Co. in the later 19th century. The works was expanded in 1876 when four or five kilns, a drying flat and engine house were added. Three or four more kilns were added in 1895.
