Monument record TQ 95 SW 48 - Second World War auxiliary unit hide near A20, Lenham

Summary

There is said to be a Second World War auxiliary hide close to Pivington House, Lenham by the A20. Auxiliary hides were designed as bases for teams of resistance fighters to carry out acts of sabotage and information gathering in the event of a German invasion. The Lenham site is presumably the one visited by General Montgomery. It was so well concealed that 'Monty' was impressed and recommended the system to Churchill.
