Full Description
A funicular railway was built by Pearson and Son Ltd as part of the building of the Eastern Arm of the Harbour. It enabled materials brought by the Martin Mill Railway to be taken down to the Eastern blockyard area at the foot of the cliffs. All that remains of the site today is a slight indentation at the top of the cliff edge and a few pieces of iron work. The rest has been destroyed by the 'Cliff road'. The site lies at the end of one of the levelled railway tracks.(1)
