Summary

Site of a Second World War light anti aircraft (Diver) battery at Langdon Hole. This was armed with eight 20mm guns, and was manned by H3/2883 RAF Regiment when it was deployed here on 2nd August 1944. It formed part of the 71 Light Anti Aircraft Artillery Brigade deployment.

Full Description

The gun position is located at the bottom of Langdon Hole. It comprises a 15m square earthwork enclosure, the bank of which measures 203m wide and between 0.3-0.5m high on the eastern sdie whilst ion the western side it is cut into the natural slope of the coombe. It may have been a WWI gun position as it appears as an earthwork in the aerial photographs. (1)
