Full Description
A small isolation hospital built to serve the city of Canterbury in 1896-7. It was designed by the city surveyor, A. H. Campbell. The hospital was transferred to the NHS in 1948 and was latterly used as a cottage hospital. It closed in 1989 but was being partially used as a day-centre for the mentally handicapped in 1991(1).
Was used as a Casualty Clearing Station during WW1. The unit opened early in 1915 but its location proved unsuitable and it closed within a short time.
