Summary
Royal Victoria Hospital was a small general hospital, originally founded in 1828 as a dispensary. In 1850 the institution acquired a disused stucco fronted classical house on the High Street, which had been erected in 1834 for a local paper maker, and was reopened in 1851 as a hospital.
