Full Description
Remains of canal and towpath built c.1830 by James Christe who founded the Penshurst Canal Company to make this part of the Medway navigatable. Although three cuts were made, only the section above Barden, "the Long Reach", was completed. Christie went bankrupt and fled to America. (1-2)
