Full Description
In January 1997 during work on a new soakaway at the rear of No. 429 Dover Road, Walmer human bones were discovered. On investigation four pits, three intercutting, were found. All were filled with brown loam and small chalk rubble deposits. Flint-tempered Iron Age potsherds (c.600-200BC) together with calcined flints were found in each pit. The two burials, child and juvenile, were deposited in the storage pits once out of use. A possible Iron Age site was connected with these features but the area is now under housing (1).
