Full Description
The trenching on Northampton Quay has shown that rather more of old Northampton Street survives than is currently visible on the surface, much of its north-western edge lies buried under a thin skin of modern concrete and tarmac. Buried portions of a cobbled surface of Northampton Street were located in trenches 3, 4 and 6, cut adjacent to the A20 retaining wall during a watching brief undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in 1998.
