Full Description

The bulk of the bridge was probably of 20th century construction, though the abutments, if not contemporary with the constructino of the canal, almost certainly date to the nineteenth century. At least two phases of bridge fabric were observed during the works. The latter phase possibly dates to the Second World War. Little evidence for the construction or adaption of the adjacent canal earthworks was observed within the cuttings made for the temporary bridge(1).
