Monument record TR 04 SW 116 - Post-Medieval Walls, 9-11 Tufton Street
Summary
During a watching brief in March 2000 at 9-11 Tufton Street the remains of two post-medieval walls were found. On the basis of their brickwork these walls were dated to the late 17th century or early 18th century. The general inequality of ground levels in the area combined with an absence of any garden soils or earth floor deposits associated with the walls suggests that the area has been truncated to a lower level, probably just prior to the construction of the two observed walls.
