Summary

A world war II, hexagonal, Type 24 pillbox, built in 1940 as part of a network of defences designed to protect a key nodal point at Ashford. The pillbox is a low, concrete structure with a maximum diameter of about 5 metres. Five sides contain a single embrasure while the sixth contains the entrance, now blocked, flanked by enclosure on either side. Scheduled.

Full Description

WW2 Type 24 pillbox. The pillbox is situated at the north western edge of Westhawk Farm Romano-British Settlement (TR 04 Sw 117) adjacent to farm access track. The pillbox is a low concrete structure with a maximum diameter of about 5m. Five of its facings are pierced by a single rectangular embrasure on either side. When seen was in good condition with gun mountings in the firing positions. (1)
